New book – and book launch

This week the popular science book Natur på ville veier? Fremmede arter og vi som flytter dem was published – a title which translates something like “Nature gone wild? Alien species and we who move them”. In the book, Marit Ruge Bjærke presents a number of stories of so-called invasive alien species in Norway, such as red king crabs, sea vomit, lilacs and wild boars, and use them to discuss the political, economic, cultural and ethical implications of categorizing a whole group of species as fundamentally in the wrong place.

On 8 October 2025 at 18:00, Gardening will organize a book launch at Kampen Kaffe og Bar in Oslo. Program:

  • Welcome by Kyrre Kverndokk
  • Presentation of the book by Marit Ruge Bjærke
  • Comment by Elise Matilde Malik, Vitenparken i Ås and University of Oslo
  • Comment by Marian Rui Slettebakken, WWF
